120110 after the flood (anniversary)

17 Jan

wagtails hunt
against the tide
rainwater throbs

elephant ears
win the regrowth race
creek beach

summer again
ducks are bolder
fish are bigger

mangrove steps
through its dead
like riflemen in ranks
volunteers at
memorial services

And this one too – the unexpected image of the elephant, so quickly changed to the plant world!
