120118 Anybody Seen my Baby?

22 Jan

Chrysler building gargoyles drip rain,
gutters run, gush, onto crowded awnings
yellow cabs crawl, beat a Watts-like
rhythm with windscreen washers, and she
strides down the centre line, strides as
though to say “I am animal” silver six-inch
stilettos step like ringing blues guitars,
down between monochrome cars,
her raincoat, collar up, runs with rain,
sways open against swinging arms,
reveals, (as her long legs,
toned, and muscled, move like a dancer)
stockings, and suspender belt, corset,
and brassiere all silvery and soaking,
her sodden hair clings to her scalp and body,
Jagger asks “Anybody Seen my Baby?
and the guitars ring and wail the blues.
