Video Clip

09 Jun

I first posted this back in January.  I’m re-posting it today as it was published in this month’s edition of the SpeedPoets magazine, under its new title.

Chrysler building gargoyles drip rain,
gutters run, gush, over crowded awnings
yellow cabs crawl, beat a Watts-like
rhythm with windscreen wipers, and she
strides down the centre line, strides as
though to say “I am animal” silver six-inch
stilettos step like ringing blues guitars,
down between monochrome cars,
her raincoat, collar up, runs with rain,
sways open against swinging arms,
reveals, (as her long legs,
toned, and muscled, move like a dancer)
stockings, and suspender belt, corset,
and brassiere all silvery and soaking,
her sodden hair clings to her scalp and body,
Jagger asks “Anybody Seen my Baby?”
and the guitars ring and wail the blues.

Loved the live and memorized rendition at Speeds. Glad it’s in SpeedPoets zine too. Now I have a hard copy.
